Last week, I attended the national meeting of the HRM Expert Group. Among the wide range of topics discussed, I found ESG particularly inspiring. In a world that is becoming increasingly fast-paced and where resource consumption is continuously rising,

Why ESG Is Indispensable Today

The term ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) has become a guiding principle that reinforces the call for environmentally sustainable, socially just, and ethically responsible corporate governance.

Why ESG Is Indispensable Today

The term ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) has evolved into a central guiding principle of modern corporate management. It stands for ecological responsibility, social justice, and ethical conduct — and makes it clear that sustainable business practices are no longer a ‘nice-to-have’ but a strategic necessity

Raising Awareness as the Foundation for Sustainable Action

Sustainability begins with awareness. Every individual and every company carries responsibility — and can actively contribute to positive development. Educating people about ecological interconnections, social responsibility, and good corporate governance creates the foundation for meaningful change.

It motivates individuals and organizations to reflect on their behavior, use resources more consciously, and make sustainable decisions. This awareness lays the groundwork for long‑term, responsible action. Digitalization plays a key role in this: it makes knowledge accessible, creates transparency, and raises awareness of the challenges of our time.

Sustainability in IT: Opportunities and Responsibility

Digital technologies offer enormous potential to make processes more efficient and resource‑friendly. Examples include:

  • Cloud computing to reduce physical infrastructure
  • intelligent systems for optimizing energy consumption
  • intelligent systems for optimizing energy consumption

At the same time, we must be aware that IT infrastructures also leaves a environmental footprint “…leave an environmental footprint. Data centers, server landscapes, and data processing consume energy — and this is precisely where responsible decisions and sustainable strategies are needed.

Sustainability as a Shared Responsibility

Whether as individuals, companies, or society as a whole — we all share the responsibility to promote sustainable practices and actively embrace ESG. Raising awareness and taking consistent action are essential building blocks on the path toward a future‑ready economy.

What This Means for Us as Management Consultants

Especially in the management consulting we should lead by example. This also includes the question: Is an on‑site meeting truly necessary — or can we use modern digital solutions such as Microsoft Teams to conserve resources?

Sustainability begins in our daily work. Every decision matters.
